Wiss Fire Company News Photo

The Wissahickon Fire Company has been provided the opportunity to conduct fire and rescue training exercises at four properties located on Cedar Hill Road in Lower Gwynedd Township:

  • 1201 Cedar Hill Road
  • 1209 Cedar Hill Road
  • 1213 Cedar Hill Road
  • 1217 Cedar Hill Road

Beginning November 2, these structures will be used to provide firefighters and emergency responders with realistic, hands-on training opportunities. Training in acquired structures allows personnel to practice critical skills, including firefighting, search and rescue, ventilation, and other emergency response techniques in a controlled environment.

Training Schedule

Training is anticipated to continue until the houses are demolished. Activities will typically take place on Monday evenings between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM. Occasional weekend and weekday daytime sessions may also be scheduled as needed.

What Residents May Notice

Residents in the surrounding area may notice increased fire department activity during training sessions, including:

  • Fire apparatus operating in the area
  • Engine and pump noise from emergency vehicles
  • Use of hand tools and power saws
  • Firefighters conducting simulated emergency response operations
  • Artificial training smoke used to create realistic conditions

Please be advised that any smoke used during these exercises is non-hazardous artificial training smoke and does not indicate an actual emergency. No live fire training is planned unless separately authorized and announced.

The Township and Wissahickon Fire Company understand that these activities may result in temporary noise and increased vehicle traffic in the immediate area. Every effort will be made to conduct training safely and professionally while minimizing disruption to neighboring residents.

These exercises provide invaluable opportunities for firefighters to maintain and strengthen the skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies. The Township appreciates the Wissahickon Fire Company's continued commitment to training and preparedness, as well as the patience and understanding of nearby residents.

For questions or concerns about the training activities, please contact the Wissahickon Fire Company at 215-646-1266.
