Board of Supervisors

The Board is the governing body for the Township and is comprised of five members elected to staggered six year terms. The Board will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays starting January 2023 through March 2023 then resume the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from April through December 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission serves as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors and makes recommendations relative to land development and subdivision applications, zoning and building code ordinances and matters of long range planning. The Commission is comprised of seven citizens appointed by the Board of Supervisors to four-year terms. The meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm.

Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body comprised of three members and one alternate appointed for three-year terms. The Zoning Hearing Board helps assure fair and equitable application of the zoning ordinances by granting relief from the literal enforcement of the ordinances in certain situations. Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm., unless otherwise scheduled.

Parks and Recreation Board

This board is responsible for advising the Board of Supervisors and staff on acquiring, developing and maintaining park land, as well as developing new recreational programs. There are seven members appointed by the Board of Supervisors for five-year terms. Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm.

Investment Advisory Committee

Comprised of three members appointed by the Board of Supervisors appointed for four-year terms, this committee assists the Township in managing its employee pension funds.

Environmental Advisory Council

This council is responsible for educating, facilitating and promoting awareness of sustainable practices within Lower Gwynedd Township and the greater community. You can learn more about their initiatives through their page linked here. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. The EAC will meet on the second Tuesday of the month in February and March of 2023 and then revert back to their normal Wednesday schedule.

Historical Advisory Committee

The Historical Advisory Committee is an advisory committee who review and make recommendations to the BOS concerning existing and proposed historical preservation ordinances, assist in the creation or enhancement of a media database of historic properties in the Township, highlight historical properties in the Township and promote a balance between historic preservation and modern living, provide public outreach and education on historic neighborhoods, among other initiatives. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. The committee is made up of seven members appointed to three year terms.

Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission was established through the anti-discrimination ordinance that was approved in 2022. The HRC is a 5-member commission appointed to 3-year terms.The  HRC has jurisdiction over unlawful discriminatory acts committed within the Township. Members are required to attend training and education seminars or sessions to acquaint themselves with the functioning of the Commission. The HRC cooperates with and assists other organizations, public or private, to improve relationships among citizens of the Township. They  act as a referral group related to complaints of alleged discrimination within the Township, wherever possible, the HRC shall refer the complainants to appropriate social, civic or government agencies for further action. The HRC will meet on the first Thursday of each month in 2023.
