On October 9, 2026, local fire companies responded to a fire at the William Penn Inn, located at 1017 Dekalb Pike. The fire originated in a basement kitchen and spread through the ductwork to the roof. Fortunately, the fire remained contained mostly within the ductwork, limiting damage to the building, and no injuries were reported.

As restoration efforts begin, Lower Gwynedd Township will work with the Inn to complete the necessary inspections and support its efforts to reopen as quickly as possible.
