Township Building to Remain Closed to Public Next Week (March 30 through April 3)

Lower Gwynedd Board of Supervisors and Staff continues to wish you and your family the best during this challenging time. Please stay home and stay healthy.

Lower Gwynedd Township continues to urge residents to follow Governor Wolf’s Stay at Home Order, which will help preventthe spread of the virus and protect our community. The order took effect on Monday, March 23, 2020 and will continue until April 6, 2020. Individuals may leave their residence only to perform allowable individual activities and allowable essential travel. More information about the order can be found at www.governor.pa.gov/newsroom/governor-wolf-and-health-secretary-issue-stay-at-home-orders-to-7-counties-to-mitigate-spread-of-covid-19/.

We encourage you to continue to practice social distancing. That does not mean staying indoors. Walks, a jog or some time in your yard are good ways to keep mentally and physically healthy. Just remember social distancing while outside.

It's also good to remember that social distancing does not mean the end of social contact. Keep in touch with family, friends and neighbors. Our phones make that easier than ever. A quick text, call or even FaceTime will be appreciated. And if you have an older family member or friend, reach out to see if they need anything.

Right now, the best way to protect yourself is to take the same precautions you would to prevent the flu or common cold:

  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze with your elbow to avoid touching your face;
  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm/hot water for at least 20 seconds;
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available;
  • Clean surfaces frequently, including countertops, light switches, cell phones, remotes, and other frequently touched items;
  • If you are feeling sick, stay home. Rest, take care of yourself and don’t spread the germs.

Here is a quick update on activity at Lower Gwynedd.

Essential Services
The Township continues to provide all essential services. Our intent is to continue to provide services as best as possible during this situation.

We are open for business. Please call 215-646-5302 or contact staff by email at contactus@lowergwynedd.org for assistance. For the health and safety of residents and staff, the Township Building will remain closed to the public through Monday, April 6.

We thank our police, fire, EMS and Township employees for their work and dedication.

As a reminder, all public meetings are postponed through Sunday, April 5. All playgrounds and Parks and Recreation programming and facility usage has been cancelled until further notice. Trails, courts and playing surfaces are open. Please practice social distancing when using.

Events and Activities
The Township’s electronic waste recycling and shredding day scheduled for April 4 has been cancelled. We are hopeful to rescheduled for the fall.

Given the situation, the Township asks that any Open Record requests not be filed at this time.

Waste Management is suspending bulk collection of furniture, carpet, mattresses and appliances. Collection will resume once conditions return to normal.

No Wipes Down Pipes
The Township urges residents to only flush toilet paper down toilets due to backups and clogging in the sewer system caused by other items.

Sanitary or disposable disinfectant wipes, tissues, paper towels, dental floss or other hygiene products should not be flushed down toilets but disposed tightly wrapped in the trash.

Census envelopes have arrived in home. The Township strongly encourages residents to take a few minutes to complete the survey, either online, by mail or phone. It's very important that everyone be counted.
