2008 Summer Camp

Early Registration

Great News for 2008, the Summer Camp program will be back in the Wissahickon Middle School and using the Middle School pool. The Parks & Recreation is offering a Discount Registration Period. 2008 Summer Camp will take place from June 23rd until August 1st. Camp Fees For further information regarding the camp please call the Township Building, registration forms can be downloaded off the Township Website www.lowergwynedd.org

Post Camp: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (additional cost) $300 per child

Trail Dusters

When it comes to recreation trends in Pennsylvania Trail Walking tops the list. Did you know that Lower Gwynedd Township has an extensive walking trail system, every year a new section of trail is being added. This program serves several purposes, first and foremost, to get you out and walking. Second to introduce you to the trails. No matter what level of walking you prefer we got a trail for you.

Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays Starting April 1- May 29

Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Locations: Varies week to so you can experience a wide variety of trails.

Space & Flight 3…2…1! Have a BLAST discovering space! Explore the stars and constellations as you take an out-of-this-world sky tour in our homemade planetarium. Prepare for lift-off as you build and launch your own rocket while learning about Newton's Laws of Motion. Use your astronaut wits and come join us on our mission through outer space!

"Hey there, future Science Explorers, do we have the camp for you!" Join our team of curious tiny-techs as we explore a new theme each day. Children are never too young to be scientists! Half day only for ages 4-6.

Application for General Fitness

This class is for anyone wanting to build strength, flexibility, coordination and/or relieve stress.We will work on mats, seated and standing.Feeling more like dance than traditional yoga, postures are smoothly and harmoniously connected through the use of the breath.Our goal is to gently yet deeply open the body and build strength by connecting movement through our center.60 minutes.Class limit of 10.

Composting Class

Masters Gardeners from the Penn State Cooperative Extension will be lecturing on how you can take table scraps and general yard debris and make wonderful compost that you can use in your gardens.Your flower beds and vegetables gardens will benefit and you will reap the rewards.

Multi Sports Camp

Theatre Horizon Drama Camp

Camp Horizon is an exciting and fun summer theatre program for kids taught by some of the Philadelphia area's most talented and experienced theatre artists.Camp Horizon provides experienced, reliable and caring teachers. Students learn theatre games, acting exercises, improvisation, script analysis, and theatre crafts. Camp culminates in final public performance on the last day. Camp Horizon promotes creativity, builds important teamwork, discipline, and speaking skills, and provides leadership opportunities for children!

Pony Grooming, Riding & Horsemanship Program

This unique program provides an introduction to the wonderful world of equines in a fun-filled, non-threatening atmosphere.Ponies, cobs and smaller equines are used which are easier to handle.Participants are grouped based on age, their size and then placed with a size-related pony or cob along with a qualified instructor.Horsemanship matters covered include:Safety on and around horses, Basic Anatomy, Equine Senses & Body Language, Grooming, the Tack and Harness, Driving the Miniature Horse, English and Western riding.Participants also get to shortly ride and drive their charges 3-4 times during each session.Participants should wear jeans / sweat pants, strong shoes, bicycle helmet, fluids and a carrot.Park Facilities does have a proper hand washing station.

Volleyball Camp

If you are a beginner or are at the intermediate volleyball level, then this camp's for you.Participants will learn fundamental volleyball skills---passing, setting, serving and hitting. This fun-filled camp will include drills, games, contests, informative mini-lectures and will work on individual and team skills. Wear comfortable sneakers and gym clothes. Bring a water bottle or sports drink.

Line Dancing

Tired of feeling stressed out with the feeling of no outlet for an escape? Enjoy a weekly hour of focused breathing, gentle stretching, and deep relaxation; you'll leave feeling more flexible and less stressed than ever before. Class is conducted barefoot; wear comfortable clothes you can stretch in. Please bring a yoga mat and strap to each class.

Run, Gun & FunLacrosse Camp

Designed to work with boys grades 2-8 to improve their skills and enjoy playing lacrosse. It is open to beginners as well as intermediate and advanced players. Forever Making Music & More

Forever Making Music and More, Inc. is an innovative, researched-based, parent-child music and movement program that is developmentally appropriate for children birth through Kindergarten. Our classes encourage the child's natural enthusiasm, giving them a positive attitude towards music and movement which creates a solid foundation for formal music and dance instruction.
