Waste Management Leaf Pick-up Dates

Waste Management customers will have their leaves collected on the following dates:
Saturday, Novemebr 15, 2008; Saturday, December 13, 2008 and Saturday, December 20, 2008. Please have your leaves curbside ready for collection by 7:00 AM on those mornings.

Zoning Hearing Board Meeting for Novemebr 13, 2008- CANCELLED

The Zoning Hearing Board Meeting for November 13, 2008 has been cancelled. The next ZHB meeting will be on Thursday night, December 11, 2008 at 7:30 PM.

Trail Maps Are Now Available

Walkers, runners, bicyclists, and nature enthusiasts are bound to discover something new along more than 13 miles of township-owned trails and 120 acres of parks. Our new Park & Trail Map features full-color landmark illustrations, suggested routes, and descriptions to help you create your own route. Maps are also available for pick-up at the township administrative offices located at 1130 N. Bethlehem Pike, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also call and ask the township receptionist to mail one free copy at 215-646-5302. You can also download an 11”x17” version to print at home.

Parks & Recreation Department- Fall Programs

The Parks & Recreation Department has a variety of programs and events scheduled for the Fall season. Don’t forget the Penllyn Woods Community Building makes a great location for family gatherings and birthday parties.

NEIGHBORHOOD ALERT

Since April of 2006, numerous municipalities throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania have experienced an increase in residential burglaries wherein occupied homes have been burglarized between Midnight and 4:00 AM. Lower Gwynedd Township has been targeted in various neighborhoods in the Township during this time period.
In most cases, entry is gained via unlocked doors or windows in the rear of the property. Entry has also been gained by entering the home through the garage after using a garage door opener found in an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. The thieve(s) have stayed on the first floor and have usually remained in the area of the kitchen or dining room searching for wallets, pocketbooks or small electronic devices (digital cameras, laptops, etc). The suspect(s) have not attempted to enter the second floor of the home.

You can help to increase the security of your home and family by following these suggestions:

Always lock all doors and windows, even while at home.

Alarms – Keep your alarm system armed, even while at home. If your alarm activates during the night, especially from a ground floor location, secure your family members on the second floor and call 9-1-1. Provide the responding officers with any information you may have available regarding the location of the alarm or any person, vehicles or other activity that you may observe outside of your house.

Vehicles – Always lock all door and windows. Place garage door openers in a safe compartment.

Keys – Don’t leave spare keys “hidden” outside of your home. Thieves look around entranceways for hiding spots. Also, don’t leave spare keys in plain view in the kitchen or areas near a doorway.

Pocketbooks/Wallets/Valuables – Do not leave any of these items in plain view on the first floor. Inventory all valuables. Keep a list of serial numbers and descriptions of electronic devices. Photograph jewelry and other valuables.

REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES, PERSONS AND VEHICLES TO THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY BY CALLING 9-1-1.

Special Needs Registry

The Montgomery County Public Safety Department, in partnership with

Bucks and Chester counties, want people to sign up for a Special

Needs Registry if it would be difficult for them to arrange for their

own safety during an energency situation.
